The Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage at the University of Baghdad has organized a course entitled “The Importance of Museums in the Preservation of Heritage” delivered by the Director of the Department of the Iraqi Museum at the Ministry of Culture Dr. Jinan Khudair Mansoor.

The lecturer talked about the establishment of museums that is one of the most important national necessities through which cultural heritage is preserved and protected as shown to the local and international community since museums are an important resource for current and future economic development. She also added that thousands of artifacts in Iraq were looted during the period following the US invasion of the Iraqi capital in 2003, along with many antiquities from other archaeological sites, estimated at about ten thousand sites scattered throughout Iraq, so the country is now trying to recover these artifacts since a number of which are appeared in auction halls around the world with the help of friendly countries and competent international organizations.
