The Continuing Education Unit at the Center for the Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage, has organized a course entitled (The importance of museums in the preservation of heritage) in which the Dr. Salah Rashid al-Salehi has delivered a lecture entitled (Museum Management).

He dealt with the history of museums in the world, mentioning that the first museum known was in Mesopotamia established by the efforts of the Babylonian princess named (Ennigaldi-Nanna) the daughter of the King of Babylon, where the archaeologist Sir Lee commented that it is the oldest museum dating back to 2500 years and then added that the museums that appeared in Europe by the popes of the Vatican, where they collected Greek and Roman statues known as classical art and halls that were established in the Vatican City including the statues of emperors, Romans and machines, Then in the year 1727 AD, the first museum was founded in Europe and soon its doors were opened to the public, while in Iraq the first museum was founded in 1924 in Baghdad. The lecturer also recommended that there should be more research in the field of preservation and registration of antiquities in a scientific way in addition to the assignment of a scientific staff specialized in languages and arts to receive visitors and provide assistance to researchers.
