The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnologies for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad has organized a scientific symposium on “The biotreatment of aromatic hydrocarbons ” that was delivered by the lecturer Dr. Safaa Abdul Rasool. The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of the treatment through the use of aromatic hydrocarbons that are polluting our environment and its methods. The lecturer tried to clarify the difference between traditional hydrocarbon removal methods and the biological methods using biomass that contains iron reductase bacteria synergistic with other types of bacteria able to remove and analyze the aromatic hydrocarbons. He recommended that the use of biomass that is consisted of reductive bacteria for iron synergistic with other species in order to analyze pollutants with high efficiency.
