Prof. Dr. Asmaa Jameel Rasheed, a faculty member from the Center for Women’s Studies at the University of Baghdad has published a research paper entitled “Women in the Forefront” within a book entitled “October Protests: Diversity of Visions and Dialectics of Change” in cooperation with a group of researchers and that has been issued by the Baghdad Riwaq Center for Public Policy. The research provided an analysis of the Iraqi women’s participation in the protest movement through taking into account women’s experiences, perspectives and revealing their knowledge in order to expand their political points of view.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Asmaa Jameel has followed a qualitative research method in this analysis while focusing on understanding phenomena in depth rather than explaining them, also she has conducted more than 25 interviews with a number of women who usually participate in protests in Baghdad exclusively through five discussion panels held at Al-Tahrir Square. It is worth mentioning that the book consisted of more than 200 pages, including 13 research papers addressing the most important dimensions of the protests that began on the twenty-fifth of October 2019, as well as the factors that have prompted their eruption and the discourse formulated by their forces.
