The Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the College of Science for Women, Dr. Adel Hussein Talib has recently received the members of the Quality Committee of Educational Laboratories from the presidency of the University of Baghdad who paid a field visit to the college’s laboratories in the departments of chemistry, physics and biology for the purpose of ascertaining the extent to which they apply the safety conditions and provide the means of protection for workers according to the standards required by the quality assurance department before the start of the new academic year.

The head of the department of biology, Dr. Mushtaq Faraj Karumi, stated that the deanship of the college provided fire extinguishers at the departments to ensure safety of professors and students working there, emergency exits and entrances to all laboratories before the onset of the current academic year. The assistant dean for the administrative affairs explained that all the members of the Follow-up Division and the deanship were trained in the procedures of civil defense through the establishment of a training course earlier in coordination with the Follow-up Department at the university’s presidency, the Directorate of Civil Defense at Karrada District to raise awareness and spread the culture of public safety at the college. At the end of the tour, the committee made some valuable observations in order to raise the quality of laboratories and stressed the importance of directing students to wearing masks & gloves when conducting practical experiments to achieve safety conditions.
