The College of Nursing at the University of Baghdad has lately organized a virtual workshop entitled (Ethics of Practicing the Nursing Profession) via the Google Meet service in the presence of a number of professors, undergraduate and postgraduate students. The workshop aimed to identify the ethics of this high profession as well as the positive ethical rules of nursing care, behavior of nurses in commitment to the ethical goals that emanate from the culture of this job and the need for fulfilling duties and preserving the rights of workers and beneficiaries. The workshop also included several topics, the most important of which are the factors that led to the development of the ethics of nursing, the international law of this profession, the responsibilities of the nurse towards his/her patients, himself, the institution and community.

The researchers in the workshop called for adherence to the laws of the nursing profession and the values, principles, beliefs and customs prevailing in society and the need to comprehend and determine the professional relationship between nurses and the rest of the members of the health team, where the nurse must provide services to patients without any differentiation between them based upon social, economic or religious aspects, nationalities and the nature of their health condition away from any violations of their safety as a result of unethical or illegal actions. Therefore, the patients should provide an immediate notification to the competent authorities when any of these acts occurs.
