A group of the students of pharmacy at the University of Baghdad have carried out a voluntary and an awareness campaign in coincidence with the visit of the Arba’een of Imam Hussein (PBUH) in Karbala under the patronage of the dean of the college, Assist. Prof. Dr. Sarmad Hashim al-Khatib, and under the supervision of the supporting committee of the student volunteering initiatives. The students have distributed an awareness poster prepared under the supervision of some faculty members at the college entitled ((Guidelines on the optimal use of antibiotics)) in order to introduce the visitors of this holy city about the nature of antibiotics, their importance and how to use in the right way in addition to providing advice on their risks resulted from misuse. It is noteworthy that the campaign lasted for 3 consecutive days and it was welcomed and appreciated by the visitors of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
