The college of engineering at the University of Baghdad, represented by the dean Prof. Dr. Saba Jabbar Neima who is the Secretary General of the Association of the Union of Engineering Colleges and Institutes in the Arab World, along with the assistant dean for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Dhiaa Jassim Kazim, the head of the department of civil engineering, Prof. Dr. Abbas Abdul Majeed, and the director of media and public relations division, have participated in a virtual workshop organized by the Association of Arab Universities to exchange experience in the field of development of engineering education that was presided over by , headed by the Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, Prof. Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama.

The aim of the workshop was to prepare for the formation of scientific committees that in charge of formulating necessary plans for updating curricula as well as the development and restructuring of engineering and technical education so as to keep pace with the needs of the labor market in the twenty-first century. The participants addressed several topics, including the great progress in the field of materials engineering, artificial intelligence, sustainable design and the impact of computer programs (Software) on the engineering curricula applied now in addition to the effect of summer training in connecting students with industry and the competencies required for the engineering labor market in particular, namely how to develop study programs and regulations, how to help colleges to obtain the accreditation of ABET organization, prepare our students to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or its Arabic equivalents by providing them with the behavioral and ethical skills or the cognitive aspects necessary to become qualified to practice the profession of engineering after graduation. Also the lecturers stressed the need to assist Iraqi graduates who will work in the reconstruction of their country that has suffered from wars through focusing on certain topics such as flexibility of city planning, modern methods of rapid construction, repair, maintain and rehabilitation of facilities.
