Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad has received a delegation from the Chinese embassy in Iraq to discuss the mechanism of scientific and research cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two sides. They also discussed the procedures that would be adopted establishing the Chinese corner at the Central Library of the University of Baghdad in the presence of the Chinese ambassador that would be a step forward towards the exchange of cultures as well as various resources of information.
The two parties then addressed the possibility of inauguration of the Confucius Institute for Education and Cultural Exchange at the college of languages and how to overcome any obstacles that may exist in this regard along with other mutual projects after agreeing on a number of points concerned. Then Dr. Munir al-Saadi discussed the possibility of establishing the department of Chinese language at the college after obtaining ministerial approvals and providing a teaching staff from inside Iraq through joint coordination with the Chinese side and providing online lecturers for Iraqi learners. It was also agreed to activate the Huawei Center at the university along with developing training programs related to cybersecurity in cooperation with the Chinese academic institutions.
