The college of physical education and sports sciences for women at the University of Baghdad held a scientific workshop for the undergraduate students entitled “Food and sports suitable for women during the menstrual period” delivered by the Assist. Lecturer Shahad Haitham Sheet from the Individual Games Branch.

The workshop aimed at the most important foods that women should eat during the menstrual cycle, which are rich in iron, fiber, magnesium, found in fruit and vegetables, as well as referring to foods that are forbidden to eat during the menstrual cycle such as salt-rich or sugar-rich foods, spicy foods, red meats, as well as fatty foods. The benefits of exercise during the cycle were noted in all respects as it assist in getting rid of toxins, improving mood and reducing fatigue since exercise contributes to pain relief as a whole, also noting the risks of excessive exercise that may cause absence, irregularity or total interruption of the menstrual cycle, as well as many diseases such as high body temperature, headache or others.
