The advisory office at the institute for urban and regional planning for postgraduate studies at the University of Baghdad held its regular meeting to discuss the outcomes of a working paper submitted by the center to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers on the traffic jam crisis.

The dean of the center, Dr. Karim Hassan Alwan, confirmed that the center will hold a workshop in the presence of the prime minister’s advisor, Dr. Sabah Meshtat in the next two weeks in the presence of the center’s faculty members and postgraduate students to discuss the possible mechanisms for solving all problems and details concerned with the traffic congestion in Baghdad. It was agreed that the related plans would be made for surveys on the ground by the center’s scholars, besides proposed solutions recommended by specialists to be submitted to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers. The study, which will be presented by the advisory office during its forthcoming workshop, along with a comprehensive survey of the number of cars, the urban expansion in the capital, randomness, as well as population displacement from other provinces to Baghdad.
