Prof. Dr. Ghusoon Ali and Assist. Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Jaber, from the department of biology at the college of science, presented a patent entitled: “Manufacturing a cream product for the treatment of damaged hair from six plants and medicinal herbs” after fulfilling all the requirements specified by the Directorate of Patents and Industrial Models at the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC).

The patent addressed matters related to the components of many of hair products, whether being toxic or environmentally dangerous chemicals such as Thioglycolate, Sodium Hydroxide or Lithium, Guanidine or even Formaldehyde, as these chemicals are highly toxic and have the potential to generate toxic gases that have a negative impact on human health, although traditional chemical treatments are one of the most popular methods used to change hair style, which pose a threat to hair or might endanger consumer life and environment since the frequent use of traditional cosmetic chemotherapies can severely affect the physical chemical properties of hair. The patent and the product, which has been approved by the ministry of health, focused on the manufacture of cream of herbal origin namely for several reasons, including the high cost and difficulty of mixing it without the need for chemicals, hence the researchers tried to study the manufacture of natural cream from six medical plants for treatment of hair problems, as well as the synthesis of such plants in precise proportions, that work as one unit in the treatment of hair loss, dandruff and scalp. The professors added that they made use of Aloe Vera Gel that which is easy to handle and wash.
