The Department of Geography at the College of Education for Women held a virtual scientific workshop entitled (The potential and constraints of agricultural development in Iraq: future prospects) via the Google Meet service. A group of professors presented their research and working papers that focused on agriculture, its development and the impact on food security, economic and social growth and the role of agricultural development in solving unemployment problems as well as the development of the country’s natural resources.

The workshop has focused on several recommendations, including overcoming obstacles facing the agricultural sector, upgrading infrastructure, especially irrigation and diesel networks, providing a safe investment environment for the private sector, supporting the rural community, marketing support for farmers, stopping abuses on agricultural land, establishing factories to invest agricultural and animal products, developing agricultural technologies of machinery and successful agricultural experiments, activating agricultural studies and research in universities in the development of agriculture and supporting the state for the animal sector by establishing special centers for livestock care.
