The University of Baghdad has gained the first place in publishing academic research in global repositories according to the Scopus database as a result of publishing (16276) research papers at the level of Iraqi public universities, while Al-Mustakbal University College has published (418) papers at the level of Iraqi private colleges & universities.

The Scimago Journal & Country Ranking indicated that Iraq is ranked in the (45th) place globally, in the (6th) place in the Middle East and in the (3rd) place in the Arab world in publishing scientific research. For its part, the ministry of higher education and scientific research confirmed in a statement that the published research index of Iraqi universities in Scopus has elevated to (79790) researches as a result of pursuing its policy adopted in this regard so as to ensure the academic interaction of the Iraqi faculty members and our educational institutions with their counterparts across the world. His Excellency the minister of higher education and scientific research, Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdul Sahib, during his speech in the occasion, has stressed the need to promote the culture of publishing scientific research in international repositories, as well as upgrading Iraqi academic journals so as to develop our Iraqi university global rankings, in conjunction with ensuring the prospects of international partnerships in various disciplines; also employing their outcomes in pace with the requirements of the comprehensive development.
