The department of astronomy and space at the University of Baghdad in coordination with the scientific care department of the ministry of youth and sports have organized a training course on the types of telescopes with the participation of a number of students and those interested in astronomy. The course aimed to introduce the types of optical telescopes used by amateurs for monitoring stars and astronomical phenomena properly to get the best possible information from these devices as well as towards the development of this culture in our society.
The course was chaired by the Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Kamel and Assist. lecturer Haidar Rida from the college and Dr. Zainab Saleh from the scientific care department who gave theoretical and practical lectures on how to make use of space telescopes in applied research and the difference between them when compared to terrestrial telescopes in matters related to multiple frequency ranges.
