The college of physical education and sports sciences has organized recently an extended workshop entitled “Ways to upgrade Iraqi scientific journals” chaired by the dean of the college of science at the University of Karbala and the editor-in-chief of Karbala International Journal of Modern Science, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Abdul Latif, in the presence of the assistant rector for scientific affairs at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Abdul Kareem Al-Sammarraie, as well as a number of editors-in-chief of academic journals of our university.

The workshop aimed to explore ways on how to index Iraqi scientific journals in international containers such as Scopus and Clarivate Analytics with a special reference to 8 Iraqi journals listed in such databases. Dr. Ahmed Abdul Latif stated during his speech that the Karbala International Journal of Modern Science has entered global repositories within 6 years after fulfilling the standards of scientific sobriety, keeping up with modern research trends, in accordance with publishing ethics of Elsevier Netherlands-based publishing company. For his part, Dr. Abdul Kareem Al-Sammarraie stated that the competence, will and ambition of researchers have evolved as a result of keeping up with the global educational process, and that the University of Baghdad is in full swing to support the editors in this quest, especially after having more than 30 academic journals, 4 of them have entered in Scopus, and two in Clarivate, adding that the Journal of Economics and Administrative Sciences will soon enter in Scopus.
