The lecturer Iman Ali Hadi and Prof. Fatima Faiq Juma from the department of home economics at the college of education for women have published a joint research in Scopus database entitled “The effect of smoking on adolescents’ appetite for age (13-18) and its relationship to some variables”

The study aimed to find out the impact of smoking on the health and behavior of adolescents, including appetite, growth and other things, as the nutritional requirements of people in different ages in general and for adolescents in particular where they found an increase in appetite for the ages (13-18) years old in alignment with an increase in the speed of growth for them. The results indicated a lower daily intake rate for the smoked adolescents aged (13-15) and (15-18) of all proteins, carbohydrates, energy and vitamin B12,B6, E,C,A, Folic acid, iron and calcium for adolescents smoking aged (13-15) years old, while the rates of these elements were high among non-smoking adolescents in the same age group when compared with global data. Also they noted that the prescribed daily need for these nutrients remained unfulfilled constantly for 15-18 years old teenagers.
