The Environmental Sustainability Committee at the college of education for pure and applied sciences (Ibn al-Haitham) held its first meeting chaired by Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Mahdi Azooz and the membership of a number of faculty members and directors of the relevant administrative divisions at the college.
The meeting began with an introduction of the concept of sustainability as it refers generally to the capacity for Earth’s biosphere and human civilization to co-exist and all matters involved in this topic, including the requirements that should be fulfilled according to the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings as being an annual international ranking which is an initiative of the University of Indonesia, launched in 2010 for the sake of measuring the trends and procedures adopted by universities all across the world in this regard. The participants discussed some significant initiatives recommended by the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department and other educational programs to be launched with the participation of professors, employees and students.
