Dr. Essam Mohammed Ali, a professor from the department of mechanical engineering at the University of Baghdad has supervised a graduate research presented by two fourth-grade students (Tabarak Latif Salman and Mohammed Ali Abdullah) in an attempt to design and manufacture a manual control wheelchair equipped with an electrical system to be standing, folding to help people with special needs to stand and move in a comfortable way, with taking into account that this chair us to be safer, simple in design, requires less energy by the patient and to be less expensive when compared to other mobile wheelchairs.

In this project, the focus has been on developing wheelchairs with electric motor and a control panel installed near the handrest to control the repositioning from sitting to standing by gently lifting the user to a permanent position, to interact with others at eye level, which can give the patient sense of independence and self-reliance by interacting with people around him, reduce ulcers, improve blood flow to all organs, enhance blood circulation & kidney functions, reduce pressure on lower limbs, reduce cramps and muscle contractions, improve breathing function, enable the user to perform exercise and a large number of daily activities.
