The institute of genetic engineering and biotechnologies for postgraduate studies at the University of Baghdad held an educational symposium entitled “The psychological and mental risks of drug abuse and their impact on the nervous system” via FCC platform in the presence of a number of professors, researchers and those interested in this topic.

The symposium aimed to introduce the risks of drug abuse from both the psychological and mental perspectives, as well as their effect on the nervous system and how the brain works in the absence of such drugs. The lecturers also addressed the most important ways to identify addicts and reduce the spread of drugs among individuals in the society. At last, the oartivioanrs reviewed the classification of drugs according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and how the brain react when the addicts stop taking drugs.
