The continuing education unit, in cooperation with the department of home economics at the college of education for women, has organized an online workshop entitled “Psychological stress in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and how to confront”, which was presented by Prof. Dr. Intisar Kamal al-Ani via Google Meet platform.

The lecturer dealt with how the Coronavirus pandemic has spread across the world, caused a global shock that the humanity had not seen in decades, perhaps it is the first of its kind since the World War II. This epidemic brought many challenges whose economic, social and psychological consequences are already felt, especially for vulnerable groups, whose livelihoods are at risk, as well as people already suffering from chronic diseases, and those with health or psychological conditions who suffer more from social isolation than before. Dr. Intisar al-Ani stated that people have been living in harsh conditions since the beginning of infection due to the prolongation of this crisis, from the imposition of curefew and quarantine procedures in many countries, also for the loss of jobs for millions of employees and the death of more than 2 million cases of this disease; however still recording tens of thousands of deaths daily. This viral storm has also cast a shadow over the global economy, networks of international relations, even some manifestations of the retarding mental health of the infected patients.
