The department of chemistry, in collaboration with Ibn Sina unit for e-learning and the continuing education units at the college of science, has organized a virtual workshop entitled “Ethics of the Profession” chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Bassim Ibrahim al-Abdali with the participation of a number of students and professors from inside and outside the university. The lecturer aimed to introduce the set of values and behaviors that meet the practical positive standards required in the performance of functional tasks when dealing with others at the same working environment which is something that preserves the mental health of human beings and the integrity of this environment in addition to the fact that such positive attitude is considered as a necessity of civilized life and a prerequisite for the organization and the stability of society.

Then Dr. Bassim al-Abdali talked about the ethics of the profession in general that can be summarized as a set of rules, morals, principles and standards of ethical behavior that should be adhered for the completion work as prescribed, indicating the foundations of dealing with employees, subordinates and co-workers. At lase, he stated that ethics contribute to determining the contexts of work, explaining the difference between job performance and professional work and how can individuals make appropriate decisions in this regard.
