The department of crisis studies at the center for strategic and international studies at the University of Baghdad held a workshop entitled the Role of regulatory agencies and bodies in Recovering Stolen Iraqi Funds Abroad. The participating lecturers stated that corruption in Iraq has increased the importance of the issue of certain resolutions for recovering Iraqi money that is smuggled abroad, which necessitated activating the role of regulators to restore these funds in order to employ them to develop our economy because it constitutes huge amounts that can achieve economic prosperity.

The workshop also addressed the issue of smuggling stolen money and assets, which is one of the most dangerous forms of corruption and crime among the crimes that undermine the values of justice and humanity, and ways to develop contemporary societies, since the spread of corruption in state sectors leads to the weakening of its ability to achieve development goals and other reform projects that are directly related to the well-being of the citizens, securing equality, achieving justice and building the state of law.
