The members of the monitoring and astronomical monitoring committee at the department of astronomy and space at the college of science have observed recently the phenomenon of the so-called giant strawberry moon and were able to take some photographs of this event in order to study its transitional cases witnessed at the capital Baghdad. Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Kamel, a professor at the department of astronomy was able to monitor the strawberry moon via the use of a modern CD camera and 11 inch telescope, were he accompanied his students in these observations in addition to conduct other observational evenings in cooperation with the Scientific Care Department of the ministry of youth and sports. It is noteworthy that the strawberry moon is called so not because of its color, but as its appearance coincides with the beginning or end of the strawberry harvest in some parts of the North America.
