The department of astronomy and space at the college of science, in coordination with Ibn Sina e-learning and continuing education units organized an electronic panel entitled “Drug addiction as a scourge that destroys communities” with the participation of a number of postgraduate students, professors and those concerned with psychological and educational guidance committees.

The seminar aimed to raise the awareness of people in relation to the risks and disadvantages of drugs to the nation and to highlight the goals of life for individuals and how ambition is built and creativity is achieved. The lectures were given by Prof. Dr. Fadel al-Saadi from the center for development and continuing education at the University of Baghdad, who at first identified the most important indicators of the transition from drug addiction to opioid addiction among individuals during the period (2015-2020), according to data showing the distribution of addicted people based on their gender, age groups and social status, pointing out their educational status and jobs and the impact of the social environment on this behavior and at last he reviewed the most important methods of prevention and treatment.
