The University of Baghdad was ranked in the first position in Iraq according to the new edition of Webometrics Ranking of World Universities for July 2021 and in the (1838) position globally according to the indicators obtained during this month. Based on the most current and updated web data, this edition showed an increase in the number of Iraqi universities and colleges that entered in this world university ranking, where (82) Iraqi public and private universities and colleges have competed in Webometrics compared to the January 2021 edition that witnessed the entrance of (79) Iraqi universities and colleges.

It is noteworthy that Al-Mustansiriya University gained the second place followed by the University of Kufa in third place. The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab which is a research group belonging to (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain and it is issued every six months based on the most updated and useful information about the performance of universities from all over the world, namely visibility (50%), transparency (or openness) (10%) and excellence (or scholar) (40%).
