The University Baghdad, represented by its rector Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, has organized a moment of silent contemplation and respect for the souls of the martyrs of Al-Naqa’a Center at Al-Hussein Hospital in Nasiriyah in the presence of the rector’s assistants for scientific and administrative affairs, deans of colleges and heads of departments at the presidency of the University Baghdad.

The vigil included reading Surah Al-Fatihah for the souls of the patients of Coronavirus pandemic who were killed by a fire that devoured at Al-Naqa’a Center, resulted in dozens of deaths and wounded. The rector directed the postponement of the opening of a statue of the late physicist Abdul Jabbar Abdullah (who was the first rector of the University of Baghdad) and other related events until further notice. The University of Baghdad extends its deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs of Al-Hussein Hospital in Nasiriyah, asking God to have mercy on them and to inspire their families patience and fortitude, providing the wounded with speedy recovery and to protect our country from any scourge. “We belong to God. To Him we shall return.”
