Dr. Ali Saad Aliwi from the department of chemistry and the Assist. Prof. Dr. Waleed Ibrahim Yassin from the department of astronomy and space at the college of science were honored by His Excellency the minister of higher education and scientific research Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdul Sahib in a ceremony held at Al-Nahrain University in the annual celebration of the Iraqi Science Day, in the presence of the ministry’s advanced staff, rectors and a number of guests, researchers and students. During his speech, the minister praised the efforts exerted by faculty members to achieve the goals of higher education in Iraq and insisted on the need for more global academic competition, taking into account all the requirements for scientific and qualitative performance mechanisms to meet multiple and renewed needs of the community.

Also Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdul Sahib pointed out that our distinguished scientists and researchers have contributed to the rise of the name of Iraq to the 45th place in the world, the 6th rank in the Middle East and the 3rd rank in the Arab world in the dissemination of scientific research. It is noteworthy that (1938) professors have presented their research papers in the fields of medical, health, engineering, technological, agricultural, social, pure sciences and humanities, where sixty professors were honored for their outstanding research published in international scientific journals, patents, best translated books, in addition to other awards for the best student volunteer creative work graduation projects.
