The continuing education unit, in cooperation with the department of home economics at the college of education for women held an virtual workshop entitled (Hand Sewing) via Google Meet service, presented by the Assist. Lecturer Rasha Ali Rasool in the participation of a number of faculty members and undergraduate students. The workshop aimed to clarify steps and models of hand stitching that can be done without a sewing machine due to knowing the basic techniques that work best for different purposes.

The lecturer stated that by this kind of sewing, we often can train beginners easily to use stitches in preparation for using a machine, then she presented samples of hand sewing stitches to clarify how to make use of templates and pattern paper, fixing two pieces of cloth temporarily or permanently, as well as fixing folds in a permanent way. At the end of the workshop, the lecturer Rasha Ali stressed the need to take care of the appearance of the sewn cloth that indicates good taste and the need to enhance our female students’ expertise in this art that may assist them in daily life.
