Abstract 

Measurement pump efficiency, which is a basic criterion for determining the type of pump, requires knowledge of the water horse power of the pump, which can be measured by measuring the discharge of the pump and its total static pumping height, and the break horse power of the pump, which needs a special instrument to measure. Due to the unavailability of the device, which is considered a specialized equipment (note that the globally existing devices are to measure the power of internal combustion engines) It is also not available. In addition, the devices in the Iraqi universities laboratory are small, and cannot be used to measure the speed of the rotary pumps at high speeds which require a high capacity to inhibit them.

Therefore, the design and manufacture of a device for measuring the capillary capacity of the irrigation pumps, Required for pump rotation with load (input capacity). The power measuring device consists of the following parts:A brake control device consisting of thermal graphite and also used in the motor and a pulley to manage the pump which is moved from an electric motor by V-pelt conveyor belts, a metal friction disc, a load-bearing arm and a kilogram Suspension, horizontal articulated arm, fixed vertical arm and base to hold all parts.Testing the device was carried out in the workshop of the General Company for Mechanical Industries / Alexandria, which is 50 km south of Baghdad and belongs to the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, in 2010 for the purpose of testing the measuring device of the hydraulic force of the irrigation pumps, which was designed and manufactured in the above company. The test was conducted to measure the centrifugal capacity of the 100NVA × 4) which are manufactured in the General Company for Mechanical Industries.

The following treatments were used: Pressure treatment: It includes three levels of pressure: low pressure 0.5 bar, medium pressure 1 bar and high pressure 1.5 bar and speed treatment and included two speeds for the pump are: First speed: 1450 rpm and second speed: 1950 rpm .The results were as follows:- The increase in pump speed significantly increased the horsepower of the piston and the increase in the push pressure led to a slight increase in the horsepower of the piston and the superiority of the binary interference between the speed of 1450 cycles / minute and push pressure 1.5 bar to obtain the lowest horsepower.The ability of the BMS was proved to be successful. The results were compared with the other method of measuring the force of the drive by the number of amps pulled by the electric motor, where the results were very close. It is preferable to use the power measuring device to measure the input capacity of the irrigation pumps with capacities ranging from 1 horsepower to 15 hp, as it differs from the equipment available in Iraqi universities and other specialized departments.
