Abstract

Pumping system with motor operated by four energy sources used in irrigation was manufactured and assembled in the desert regions.  Multiple energy sources pumping system consists of the fallowing parts: centrifugal pump (1̋ ×1̋̋̋̋), metal base, different Pulley, V-Belt ,  inverter, reservoir, inlet and outlet tubes, pressure gages discharge gages, valves and engine operated by four energy sources included: electric engine supplied with energy by solar, electric engine supplied with energy by wind, internal combustion engine uses gasoline (petrol) and internal combustion engine uses bio fuel (90% gasoline + 10% ethanol) to operate the pump in the desert guided indicative- division of Karbala cultivation which located 9.53 Km west of city center of Karbala in 2015.

Many experiments were conducted to test and operate the pumping systems using the four energy sources with two discharges included 3.5 and 1.8 m3.h-1. Water horse power, break horse power, pump efficiency, and the total costs were measured. The results showed that no significant differences between the different sources of energy on the water horsepower, pump efficiency, while the results also showed less operating pumping costs when using engine supplied with electricity by battery charged with solar energy.
