The college of pharmacy at the University of Baghdad organized recently a virtual workshop entitled “IR Spectroscopy Techniques” delivered by Assist. Lecturer Nada Abdul Hamid Abdul Raheem, a faculty member at the pharmaceutical chemistry branch via Zoom program. The lecturer first gave an introductory explanation of the infrared spectroscopy device, its components and benefits in the measurement of the interaction of infrared radiation.
Then she talked about the absorption spectroscopy techniques that measure the absorption of radiation, as a function of frequency or wavelength, due to its interaction with a sample through which energy is absorbed by that sample, adding that the intensity of the absorption varies as a function of frequency. Also she addressed matters related to the most important uses and applications of this device in research when preparing several chemical compounds.
