Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad chaired the 16th regular meeting with the members of the university council, directors of departments and deans of colleges and postgraduates institutes. The members discussed the most latest and significant developments related to the establishment of a stem cell center at the college of medicine targeted towards providing therapy for some incurable diseases in conjunction with the urgent need for the application of such treatment and the use of innovative medical technology in the Iraqi health institutions. Dr. Munir al-Saadi stressed the need to inaugurate this center in cooperation with a global institution to benefit from its research and expertise in this regard, as well as forming a committee for the sake of speed up the process of training and rehabilitation of our medical staff in this vital field.
Then the council’s members stressed the importance of marketing more than 3,000 scientific projects and patents undertaken by faculty members and students at all university formations that have an economic feasibility. Also they addressed several issues related to the integrated education for the postgraduate studies, study leave, the required disciplines in various university formations, curriculum updates in cooperation with the ministry of education.
