A number of professors from the department of petroleum engineering at the college of engineering have participated recently in the third international scientific conference for oil studies in Iraq organized by the department of earth sciences at the college of science under the direct supervision of the rector of the University of Baghdad Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi and the dean of the college of science, Prof. Dr. Abdul Kareem al-Qazzaz, sponsored by His Excellency the minister of higher education and scientific research Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazim Abdul Sahib and the minister of oil Prof. Dr. Ihsan Abdul Jabbar.
This event was held under the slogan “Role of earth sciences in hydrocarbon exploration”. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Saleh al-Jawad and Assist. Prof. Dr. Iyad Abdul Halim Abdul Razzaq were selected members of the scientific committee of the conference where they chaired a number of sessions and submitted a number of valuable research papers. Also Assist. Prof. Dr. Jalal Abdul Wahid Radhi, Assist. Prof. Dr. Falih Hassan Mohammed, Dr. Ruweida Qaiser Abdul Abdul, lecturer Osama Sahib Saleh and Assist. Lecturer Ahmed Talib Al-Khafaji have all presented papers in the conference, in addition to the participation of a number of postgraduate students at the department by submitting research that addressed many matters can be applied in the redevelopment of the Iraqi oil industry.
