The center for women’s studies organized a great ceremony to honor creative women in various scientific disciplines in cooperation with the Women, Family and Children Committee of the House of Representatives, the Arab League’s Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), the Student Activities Department, Al-Araqah Foundation for Culture and Development and the Women’s Empowerment Section at the ministry of youth and sports in the presence of a number of members of the Iraqi parliament.

The ceremony started with a speech delivered by the assistant rector for administrative affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Wahid Nasser, on behalf of the rector, in which he explained all gratitude to Iraqi women who contribute to the advancement of the political, economic and social reality in the country, as well as in recognition of their abilities, creativity and continued support in all areas of life. The director of the center for women’s studies, Prof. Dr. Athraa Ismail Zaidan, also addressed in her speech the challenges and difficulties facing Iraqi women in particular and praised their attitude against injustice and slavery as well as their determination to prove their worth despite all circumstances. The ceremony included also a presentation of a documentary film on the center and its objectives for addressing the reality of Iraqi women and expanding their knowledge, then honoring a number of creative women and distinguished scientists at the University of Baghdad for their active role in human rights, peaceful coexistence and scientific output.
