Prof. Dr. Ibtisam Mohammed al-Ameri, the director of the center for strategic and international studies at the University of Baghdad gained recently the honorary membership of the Global Powers and the Middle East Conference held in Turkey. The conference was sponsored by Istanbul University and ORSAM Center for Middle Eastern Strategic Studies which is a non-profit, non-partisan and independent center founded in Ankara on January 1, 2009 that seeks to provide relevant information to the general public and to the foreign policy community. The aim of the conference was to examine and analyze the policies of major world powers in (USA, Russia, China, Europe and other new emerging powers represented by Germany, Japan, India) towards the Middle East and how the dynamics and trajectories of conflicts and crises in the Middle East are influenced by competition among these powers.
