The biological research unit for hot zones in collaboration with Ibn Sina e-learning and continuing education units at the college of science organized a virtual seminar entitled “Discovering Knowledge through data mining” via Google Meet service with the participation of a number of students and those concerned with statistics.

This event was administrated by Assist. Prof. Dr. Fatha Othman who tried to identify this approach dating back to the 1990s and is similar to initial data analysis, whereby a data analyst uses visual exploration to understand the characteristics of data, rather than through traditional data management systems. Data mining can be used in artificial intelligence (human-like intelligence) or in machine learning (method of data analysis that automates analytical model building). The workshop included a review of the growth done by large companies that are working to establish the formal standards of data exploration in order to extract relevant information, particularly in the context of biological fields.
