The Joint Disease Research Unit at the college of veterinary medicine held recently an electronic workshop via Google Classroom service on “Gel Electrophoresis”. The lecturers at first identified this term which describes the method for separation and analysis of macromolecules (DNA, RNA and proteins) and their fragments based on their size and charge, adding that this technique uses a gel as an anticonvective medium for the movement of a charged particle in an electrical current. Then the workshop included displaying videos that illustrate a series of tests for the polymerase chain reaction, DNA extraction and how to get the genetic sequence.
