Assist. Prof. Dr. Majid Judah Laibi, a lecturer at the public health branch at the college of veterinary medicine has conducted an extensive study on the “The importance of enacting an Iraqi legislation for animal welfare” to be submitted to the veterinary department at the ministry of agriculture. During his study, the researcher discussed the relationship between human beings and nature and the need for establishing a better harmony between them, also addressed the intentional cruelty and assault on animals from the Islamic perspective and the need for Iraqi animal welfare legislation.

At last, Dr. Majid Judah presented several recommendations to comply more closely with the standards of animal welfare for the protection of animals during transportation and slaughtering according to the principles of the World Organization for Animal Health targeted towards coordinating, supporting and promoting animal disease control, also to reduce the risk of human-transmitted diseases and preventing harm to environment.
