The center for women’s studies at the University of Baghdad organized its international scientific forum on the phenomenon of domestic violence in Iraqi society via Free Conference call app in order to examine the draft law against domestic violence in cooperation with the college of education for women at Al-Iraqia University and the International Union of Arab Academics.
At the onset of this event, Assist. Prof. Dr. Maison Ali Abdul Hadi, head of the department of policy research and legislation presented a paper on the legal imperatives of legislation against domestic violence with the aim to discuss the various issues of this phenomenon and to develop proposals and recommendations to reduce domestic violence by seeking a legislation that preserves the Iraqi family structure and the unity of society. The participants also addressed several topics, including silent violence in society and the criminal protection of women from domestic crimes to find out causes and solutions.
