Professor Robert Garrison, a retired professor from the University of South Carolina, US has recently dedicated his private library to the department of earth sciences at the University of Baghdad in recognition of the prestigious college of science. This initiative was culminated in coordination with the head of the department of earth sciences, Prof. Dr. Manal Shaker Ali who stated that the dedicated library included various scientific resources in all disciplines.

Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim Abdul Razzaq, dean of the college of science expressed his great thanks and appreciation for this wonderful initiative which reflects the love of Iraq, stressing at the same time that the library will be accessible to all students and researchers from inside and outside the college. It is noteworthy that Prof. Robert Garrison is the winner of Pettijohn Medal for Sedimentology and has instructed most phosphate and silica scientists in the world.
