The continuing medical education unit at the college of medicine has organized recently a workshop on the “Medico-legal syndrome” for the sake of discussing this dilemma with the medical students. The workshop was attended by a number of graduate students and professors of the college and was chaired by the Captain of Iraqi physicians Dr. Jassim Mutasher Thamer al-Azzawi who gave lectures to discuss all matters related to the medical profession as being a noble service given by doctors to humanity based on care, sincerity, efficiency, ethics and professional skills.

However, Dr. Jassim Mutasher Thamer al-Azzawi stated that the patient–doctor relationship should be governed by legal determinants to be more formal. Then he gave a historical overview of the development of medical laws throughout history and the last updates of legislation that shapes the doctor’s career and practice.
