The department of English language at the college of arts organized an electronic lecture entitled “Iraqi theatre and State’s gender norms: Between creativity and censorship” delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hadeel Abdul Hamid, a faculty member and a specialist in the field of studies on the reality of Iraqi women at La Trobe University, Australia.

At the onset of the lecture, Dr. Hadeel tried to clarify the importance of gender in shaping the community trends towards women in the country and its cultural representation in the Iraqi theater since the mid-1980s, then she talked about the political and social dimensions of the theatrical works and the representation of the Iraqi women at that time, especially during the war and the challenges of the previous political system.
