The department of computer science, in collaboration with Ibn Sina e-learning and continuing education units at the college of science held a seminar on “Image segmentation based on single seed region G rowing algorithm” with the participation of a number of students, professors and programmers.
The lectures were delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Nasser Hussein Salman with the aim to identify the medical diagnosis and analysis of information by the use of K-means clustering algorithm to solve clustering problems, where this method follows a simple procedure of classifying a given data set into a number of clusters, defined by the letter “k” which is fixed beforehand in order to calculate the value of each area in a medical image in pixels, including gray images, edge map to carry out all statistical calculations based on Java software and Matlab interactive mathematical program.
