In celebration of the International Women’s Day on March 8, I would like to offer my congratulations, appreciation and tribute to all Iraqi women, mothers, wives, sisters and daughters who sacrificed their sons, husbands and brothers as a martyrs so that we and our country will always be steadfast. Today we have the right to be proud of the Iraqi women who became as honorable symbols to be followed and a source of tenderness, warmth, will and determination which made them a unique icon at the academic, national and humanitarian levels.

Today, Iraqi women are at the forefront of construction and development projects in all areas of life and the women’s efforts and achievements at the University of Baghdad played a key role in the university’s successes, culminating in taking leading positions at the academic and administrative levels in various joints of the university.  So the national duty and responsibility compel us today to urge the pace for empowering Iraqi women to preserve their rights and to place them in positions worthy of their value, capabilities and sacrifices throughout history, in accordance with the principles of justice and equal opportunity. Every year, Iraqi women are fine.
