The General Secretariat of the Central Library with the sponsorship of Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad has organized recently a free book fair in cooperation with the Center for Women’s Studies, the Iraqi Foundation for Culture and Development, the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science and the Women’s Empowerment Department at the ministry of youth and sports in the presence of the representative of the ministry of interior, Major General Dr. Yasser Abdul Jabbar.
This book fair was established under the slogan “Read a book and take it as a gift” with the aim to encourage university students to read and enrich the cultural movement in the country by dedicating free books in various scientific and literary disciplines including many international novels in an initiative targeted towards promoting the culture of reading and knowledge through mutual communication between the University of Baghdad and various publishing houses.
