The college of Islamic sciences at the University of Baghdad won the first place in the 1st annual Imam Hassan (PBUH) conference sponsored by the Baghdad International Center for Peace Building in cooperation with Najaf Cultural and Religious Heritage Foundation. This came due to the participation of the Ph.D student Hussein Ali Jassim al-Nouri at Sharia department who presented a research paper on (Kufa in the poetry of Ibn al-Mu’taz and the hadiths of Ahl al-Bayt) that was selected as the best study among (29) competing papers. The researcher addressed many topics related to the distortion of Kufa and the life of its people by the writers of the Abbasid Sultans, especially the negative vision adhered by the court poet Abdullah Ibn al-Mutaz towards Kufa in general and its people in particular.

Then he mentioned the praise of Ahl al-Bayt (the people of the house of the Prophet Muhammad PBUT) to this holy city and its importance at that time — and as being the future capital of the state of divine justice under the leadership of Imam Al-Mahdi (PBUH) – as well as its distinct contributions when it became the capital of the caliphate under the rule of Imam Ali (PBUH) from Medina, so it transformed into a brilliant starting point towards culture and urbanization where 370 companions moved to live in. The researcher also hinted to the establishment of the largest modern university at the time, by Imam Muhammad al-Baqir and his son Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (PBUT) which taught several religious and worldly sciences and knowledge, so old traces confirmed that there were (900) sheikhs worked as storytellers of hadith quoting Imam Jafar bin Mohammed al-Sadiq (PBUH) in Kufa.
