The college of physical education and sports sciences for women at the University of Baghdad has organized recently a workshop for female students entitled “the crime of cyber extortion and the role of media and community awareness in reducing it” delivered by Dr. Rasul Mutlaq, consultant of the department of relations and media and director of the department of communications and informatics, Prof. Ayad Kazem Radhi in the presence of the dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Bushra Kazem Abdul Ridha al-Hamashi and a number of faculty members and the women’s division’s team of the community policing.

The lecturer focused on the concept of cyber-extortion, its causes and types, its repercussions from legal and social aspects, preventive methods and how to secure and protect personal accounts in social networking sites, as well as the role of media in spreading community awareness and how to make explanatory statements and short television films that reflect this issue and how to deal with extortionists in cooperation with community policing. At the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Bushra Kazem honored the participants with a letter of thanks and appreciation for their fruitful contribution in raising the awareness of our dear students towards the flaws of social networks.
