Dr. Shaimaa Abdul Zahra Abbas, a lecturer at the clinical laboratory sciences branch delivered an online lecture entitled “Immunotoxin: a new tool for cancer therapy” who has a Ph.D. in pharmacy from the University of Sheffield, UK in a workshop broadcasted via a FreeConferenceCall.com website in the presence of many faculty members from different Iraqi universities. The workshop included discussing several themes with an introduction of different types of immune toxins and the discovery of a new toxin called “Burkholderia lethal factor 1” extracted from “Burkholderia pseudomallei bacterium”.

The most important objective of this workshop was to introduce the association of cytotoxic compounds with antibodies as an interesting strategy, along with many immune syndromes directed at marrow tumor that showed a strong activity in preclinical studies and have proposed different strategies for linking cytotoxic compounds to antibodies. This technology can be used in the field of tissue agriculture technology and the study of the effectiveness of different types of compounds or extracts on different types of cells. It is noteworthy that the findings of this research have been published in “Nature” which is a British weekly scientific journal founded and based in London, England.
