The center for market research and consumer protection held its first virtual conference under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid Al Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad in the presence of a great academic and parliamentary gathering. The opening session was attended by the Adviser to the President of the Republic, Advisor to the Prime Minister and the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, Head of the Central Authority for Standardization and Quality Control, representatives of the ministries of health, agriculture, industry and minerals, interior, the Directorate of Combating Organized Crime, the information of the ministry of defense and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce (IBBC).

Dr. Munir Al-Saadi confirmed in his speech that this international conference was held in cooperation with the department of competition and consumer policy of the United Nations with the aim to reflect the academic efforts and accomplishments made by faculties in all areas despite the difficult health conditions facing the whole world caused by the spread of coronavirus pandemic and the current economic crisis that Iraq is going through, especially in global research dissemination.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Yahya Kamal al-Bayati, the director of the center stressed during his speech that the aim of this event is to reach at a scientific and institutional integration for the sake of the protection of Iraqi consumers and to present recent outputs made by the university according to scientific and economic standards and to learn about the opinions of the public and consumers through surveys, opinion polls and working papers in this regard. At the conclusion of the conference, the rector dedicated shields and certificates of appreciation to some participants and distinguished guests.
